Bowyer Wins Bristol Race Clipped Short by Rain

Bristol Clint Bowyer won his sixth NASCAR Nationwide Series victory and his first at Bristol Motor Speedway by outracing the rain and Kasey Kahne in Saturday’s Sharpie Mini 300.

Officials stopped the race at just past the halfway point as new clouds dumped heavy rain on the track. Forty-seven minutes later, NASCAR called the race and declared Bowyer the winner.

ABC Sports covered the event at the popular track in Tennessee and will broadcast three other races in the 35-race series.

Behind Bowyer and Kahne were David Reutimann, Brad Keselowski and Mike Bliss. Completing the top 10 were Jason Leffler, Kevin Harvick, David Ragan, David Stremme and Mike Wallace.

“It’s awesome – I take it any way I can get it,” Bowyer said. “Kasey raced me clean. He had the best car, but it’s not always the best car that wins. It’s just special. This is a racetrack that’s always been special to me ever since I’ve come here. It’s hard to race on, and you’ve earned it every time you roll into victory lane.”

The next race in the series is the Pepsi 300 on Saturday, March 22 at Nashville Superspeedway. ESPN2 will broadcast the event, which begins at 2 p.m.
