At Nationwide, we have the tools and resources to help you effectively manage your career starting on your first day on the job and lasting throughout your Nationwide career. We offer rewarding job assignments as well as continuing education and leadership development opportunities. And we have hundreds of learning and development resources that will help enhance your skills and prepare you for future opportunities.
Orientation and on-boarding
When you start at Nationwide, you’ll receive a roadmap to guide you through your first year with us. You are given key dates you need to know and online courses to introduce you to the insurance industry and Nationwide. We’ll also help you through our performance evaluation, development planning and career management.
Clear expectations through competencies
When you know what’s expected of you, you can take deliberate steps to deliver on it. We hold a set of expectations – called competencies – for our executives, leaders and associates. Our values define how we live every day, and everything we do.
Career planning at Nationwide is a process of discovering your goals and determining where you want to go. Once you’ve determined your path, we provide the possibilities and support to get you there, including assistance from our Learning and Development department. They can provide training and solutions to help you in your current role or help you get to the next level.
We encourage associates to take part in meaningful mentoring relationships. Mentoring can help you discover career direction, provide insights into your strengths and development needs and identify opportunities.
Certain jobs at Nationwide require professional designations. In some cases, training and tuition reimbursement are available to help you get these. Your manager will determine which designations are necessary and point you in the right direction to get the support you need.
Through our Educational Assistance Program, Nationwide gives you the opportunity to refine your skills and build new ones by taking college and graduate courses and degree programs, professional designation programs, personal growth programs and technical programs. We cover 100% of tuition and 50% of books for undergraduate and graduate courses. We support technical insurance courses and general certification courses, up to $5,250 per calendar year.
