Nationwide Children's Hospital
In 2006, the Nationwide Insurance Foundation awarded is largest single contribution, a $50 million gift, to Columbus Children's Hospital. It was the second largest philanthropic gift ever made to a U.S. hospital at the time, and it will touch the lives of thousands of children in need of top-notch medical care. In honor of the gift, the hospital was renamed Nationwide Children's Hospital.
In addition to the gift from our foundation, Nationwide employees volunteer their time at the hospital and raise funds for the hospital through sponsorships like the Memorial Tournament.
“Nationwide Children's Hospital is recognized nationally as a leader in pediatric health care, research, education and advocacy,” said Dr. Steve Allen, CEO of Nationwide Children's Hospital. “As a not-for-profit institution, we are only able to meet the demand for our services thanks to incredible community support. The transformational $50 million gift from Nationwide Insurance Foundation is furthering our mission and improving countless children's lives through child safety and injury prevention, neonatal intensive care and treatment of patients with congenital heart disease.”
