Edwards claims his first win of year in Nationwide Series
Assisted by a new crew chief, Carl Edwards ended
his year-long winless streak by edging points leader Clint Bowyer in
Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race in Wisconsin.
The defending series champion, Edwards took the lead with 38 laps to go in the Milwaukee Mile and held off rookie Joe Logano to capture his 14th career win in the series. It was his first victory since Nashville in June 2007.
“It just feels good to win a race, for our team, for everyone at the shop and all the guys who have been working hard and sticking with this program even though we haven’t won a race in along time,” Edwards said. “It means a lot to have all that support. This win is a huge relief.” Hear what else Edwards had to say in his post-race interview.
Team owner Jack Roush and his Roush Fenway Racing team swapped crew chiefs early last week, with Drew Blickensderfer taking over from Pierre Kuettel on Edwards No. 60 team.
Logano finished second, ahead of Bowyer, who was followed by David Ragan and David Reutimann. Rounding out the top ten were Scott Wimmer, Mike Bliss, Brad Keselowski, Jason Keller and Jason Leffler.
