Feeding America
Nationwide and its employees have supported Feeding America member food banks with food drives and volunteer support for many years.
Health incentive program fuels $100,000 donation
Recently, Nationwide celebrated the completion of a two year employee health challenge with a $100,000 donation to Feeding America’s National Produce Program. Employees and spouses improved key health measures while supporting the fight against hunger. The donation from Nationwide will help secure about 9.3 million servings of produce, which translates to about 2.5 million meals for families in need. See details in a recent press release.
History of partnership
- The Nationwide Insurance Foundation funded Feeding America for the first time in 2009 in support of Nationwide employees' efforts.
- In 2010, Feeding America awarded Nationwide Insurance the Group Volunteer Service of the Year award for our work with the Mid-Ohio Foodbank.
- During 2011 in Columbus, Ohio, Nationwide employees donated 34% of the Mid-Ohio Foodbank's Operation Feed campaign and count for 25% of its volunteers.
- Last year, the foundation's gift to Feeding America was shared with 21 member food banks in communities where Nationwide employees live and work.
"We are happy to be partnering with Nationwide," said Bob Aiken, President and CEO of Feeding America. ""We are thankful for the generosity of Nationwide because we know that fighting hunger is something that we can't do alone."
