How to Apply for Funding

New in 2008

The Nationwide Foundation is now accepting online applications. This is the preferred method for submitting your proposal. Before submitting an application via our online application tool, please review the Nationwide Foundation’s Funding Guidelines, Grant Types and Funding Limitations to assess whether your organization fits within our guidelines.

Please also review our list of required attachments outlined below, so that you are prepared to upload those documents with your application.

Although online submission is the preferred method, we will continue to accept paper applications for our 2009 funding cycle. Please be sure to include all required attachments.

Completed online forms must be received by the Nationwide Foundation no later than September 1, to be considered for the current year's grant cycle. Paper applications must be postmarked no later than September 1.Grant recipients will be notified by March 31 of the following year.

Required attachments

The following attachments are required in order for your proposal to be considered:

  • IRS 501(c)(3) Letter of Determination
  • Form W-9; Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification
  • Name and addresses of your Board of Directors
  • Operating budget and project budget for this request if applicable
  • A copy of the organization’s most recent audited financial statement
  • List of funders to whom this request has been or will be submitted, the amount of funding requested from each, and the status of each request (approved, pending or to be submitted)

Tip: When attaching your documents, be sure to follow the on screen instructions on the application form.

Note:

  • Please only submit one application per grant cycle. If you submit more than one proposal we won't be able to consider your request.
  • Incomplete applications or applications received after September 1, will not be considered. Videos, albums and binders will not be considered and will not be returned. If you have any questions please send them to corpcit@nationwide.com
