Giving Blood
Every two seconds someone in America needs blood, and each blood donation has the power to save as many as three lives.
Nationwide has taken this mission to heart, making blood donation a central part of our Corporate Citizenship program.
Nationwide employees take pride in our commitment to helping maintain an adequate blood supply, and we partner with community blood donation organizations to make it convenient and easy to participate.
In 1995, to show our steadfast support of this program, we opened the first full-time corporate on-site American Red Cross blood donor center in the country. As a result, associates at our headquarters in central Ohio contribute approximately 8% of the blood supply in Franklin County, Ohio.
Since 2007, the Nationwide Insurance Foundation has funded nine new bloodmobiles: two for the Blood Center of Iowa and seven for the American Red Cross. These vehicles enable health-care workers to travel to various sites to collect blood.
