Keselowski edges Bowyer at Bristol
Brad
Keselowski caught a lucky break Friday night at Bristol Motor Speedway,
passing Clint Bowyer with just 24 laps to go and winning his second victory
of the season in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.Points leader Bowyer dominated the Food City 250 after pulling away from Dario Franchitti for the lead on lap 106. But on lap 227, Bowyer slipped on Turn 2 and gave Keselowski the opening he needed.
From that point, Keselowski kept out front, beating Bowyer to the finish
line by 1.025 seconds.
"We were dead equal -- Clint and I," said Keselowski, who started from
the 37th position. "I knew I needed a break, and he gave it to me. All I
can do is force him to run hard, and he made a mistake. I'm lucky." Hear
what else Keselowski had to say in his post-race interview.
Bowyer, whose only season win in the Nationwide Series was at Bristol in March, was disappointed.
"I just can't believe it," said Bowyer, who leads the series standings by 122 points over Keselowski. "I just got loose down there and made a mistake and gave it away."
Greg Biffle finished third, followed by polesitter Cale Gale and David Stremme. Scott Wimmer was sixth, and Kyle Busch seventh. Rounding out the top 10 were David Reutimann, Brian Vickers and Steve Wallace.
