Kirt A. Walker

Kirt A. Walker

Kirt A. Walker is President and Chief Operating Officer of Nationwide Financial. He was named to this position in October 2009 after having served in various leadership positions for Nationwide Insurance, including President and COO (February 2009); President, Exclusive Operations (November 2008); and President, Eastern Operations (March 2006).

Prior to his work with Nationwide Insurance, Walker spent several years with Allied Insurance, Nationwide’s independent agency channel. He was named President of Allied Insurance in September 2003. In 1998, Walker was named Regional Vice President of Allied’s Pacific Coast Region after having served the previous year as Regional Vice President of the Rocky Mountain Region.

Walker initially joined the Nationwide family of companies in 1986 and held various life and property/casualty sales and underwriting positions with Allied. He is a graduate of Iowa State University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in management.

Walker helps ensure financial security for American families, workers and businesses by serving as a board member for the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters and the American Council of Life Insurers.

He also is passionate about the community in which he works and lives. During his time with Allied Insurance in Des Moines Walker was named CEO of the Year by Des Moines Business Journal in 2005. Walker currently serves as Chair of the American Red Cross of Greater Columbus. He also serves on the boards of the New Albany Foundation, the Mid-Ohio Food Bank and Columbus State Community College board of trustees.
