Stewart Dominates Stater Bros. 300

Tony Stewart on Monday won the twice rain-delayed Stater Bros. 300 by a landslide margin of 2.408 seconds at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif.

The NASCAR Nationwide Series race was a déjà vu of sorts, as Stewart and Kyle Busch, teammates with Joe Gibbs Racing, drove their Toyotas to a 1-2 finish. In the first Nationwide Series race of the season on Feb.16 at Daytona International Speedway, Stewart slipped past Busch by just .259 seconds.

Stewart dominated throughout most of this race, however, pacing the field for 136 of the 150 laps at the 2-mile speedway.

Kyle Busch edged out David Reutimann for second place in a battle that lasted 30 laps. Busch could take comfort in his second place finish, though, after winning Saturday's San Bernardino 200 Craftsman Truck Series.

In the final laps, Kevin Harvick slipped past Reutimann for third place, with Reutimann maintaining fourth and Carl Edwards fifth. Edwards celebrated victory earlier in the day as the winner of the 500-mile Sprint Cup race, also in Fontana.

The 35-race NASCAR Nationwide Series draws millions of fans who carefully follow the careers of their favorite drivers. NASCAR is now the nation’s second largest sport. Nationwide signed on as title sponsor last fall, following a 26-year run by Anheuser-Busch.

ESPN2 will broadcast the next NASCAR Nationwide Series race, the Sam’s Town 300, at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Saturday, March 1, 4 p.m. PT. Check out the complete NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule now.
