Stephen Rasmussen is Chief Executive Officer of Nationwide. He was elected to this position in 2009.
Prior to being elected CEO, he was Nationwide’s President and Chief Operating Officer of Property and Casualty operations from 2003-2009.
He previously served as President and Chief Operating Officer of both Allied Insurance and CalFarm Insurance. He served as Allied's Executive Vice President for Product Management, Vice President for Underwriting and Regional Vice President for the Pacific Coast Region. He joined Allied in 1974.
Rasmussen serves on the boards of the Insurance Information Institute, Nationwide Children's Hospital, OhioHealth and the Columbus Metropolitan Library. He’s also a member of the Columbus Downtown Development Corporation & Capitol South and the Columbus Partnership − organizations that are focused on the economic development and revitalization of downtown Columbus.
Rasmussen also served as a Board member of the National Urban League and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, trustee for Grand View College in Des Moines, Iowa, and as co-chair for the United Way of Central Ohio Alexis de Tocqueville Vingt-Cinq Society campaign. He and his wife, Cindy, were co-chairs of the 2012 United Way of Central Ohio campaign.
Rasmussen earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Iowa and holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation.
