Stewart claims victory at Darlington
Tony Stewart beat points leader Clint Bowyer by
.815 seconds to celebrate his fourth victory of the season in Friday
night’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Darlington Raceway.
Stewart pulled away from Bowyer in the final two laps after a six-car wreck wiped out half of the top 10 racers with just three laps to go in the Diamond Hill Plywood 200.
Watching on television was Denny Hamlin, Stewart’s Joe Gibbs Racing teammate. Hamlin was hoping for a back-to-back victory at Darlington, but he crashed his No. 18 Toyota near the end of a qualifying run Friday.
David Reutimann edged Todd Bodine, followed by Steve Wallace in fourth and David Stremme in fifth place.
Friday’s victory was Stewart’s sixth career victory in the Nationwide Series. Hear what Stewart had to say in his post-race interview.
