Giulia Jackson Named 2011 Volunteer of the Year
Last year, Giulia Jackson spent more than 850 hours getting ready for the Des Moines Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® – and that’s before she strapped on her tennis shoes.
Jackson, an accountant with Nationwide Advantage Mortgage Co., worked hard to make sure the annual fund-raiser was a success for the 22,000 cancer survivors, volunteers, runners and walkers in attendance. Her efforts paid off.
The local Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation raised more that $1 million to fight breast cancer, surpassing their goal by $75,000. Jackson was so excited that she got a tattoo of the Komen trademark pink ribbon on her arm.
Nationwide is proud to name Jackson our 2011 Volunteer of the Year. She
earned this title because her actions reflect the core values of our
company – honesty, integrity and respect. Along with other awards, we
will honor her volunteer efforts with a donation to the Komen
Foundation.
