Wimmer Wins Top Spot in Nashville

Wimmer winnerScott Wimmer won his first race in five years in the NASCAR Nationwide Series by edging a teammate in the final laps at Saturday's event at Nashville Superspeedway.

Wimmer, the first non-NASCAR Sprint Cup driver to win a Nationwide Series race this season took the lead from Richard Childress Racing Teammate Clint Bowyer with 20 laps to go.

Sprint Cup regular Kyle Busch dominated in the first half of the Pepsi 300, but handed a break to Bowyer and Wimmer when he lost control of his car.

“Stepping down and running a partial schedule schedule is not what I want to be doing, but those are the cards that are dealt to me right now,” Wimmer said. I’m with a great team with Richard Childress Racing and have great teammates….Right now, I’m having a good time.”

Behind Wimmer and Bowyer were Carl Edwards in third, Brad Keselowski in fourth and Kelly Bires in fifth. Rounding out the top 10 were David Stremme, Denny Hamlin, Cale Gale, David Reutimann and Bobby Hamilton Jr.
