This rider pays out a one-time lump sum payment of a portion of the death benefit if the insured person is diagnosed with a terminal illness with a life expectancy of 12 months or less.
Nationwide reserves the right to require the base policy specified amount to be at least $50,000 to attach this rider, and the maximum amount of the lump sum payment can’t exceed 50% of the specified amount. The accelerated benefit payment will reduce the death benefit of the policy on a dollar-for-dollar basis.
