Nationwide® Provider Network

female provider          Effective January 1, 2008, Nationwide® discontinued provider network operations.

The following information is intended to clarify what this change means to your practice, help you confirm eligibility of Nationwide members and assist you with resolving outstanding claims or contract questions.

1. Does Nationwide still provide health coverage?

Nationwide continues to provide coverage to members who have health insurance products that either:

  • use another provider network or
  • don't require members to use a provider network

2. If Nationwide still provides coverage, why was my contract terminated?

Nationwide determined that it was no longer necessary to maintain the Nationwide Health Provider Network. Therefore, contracts were terminated and the Nationwide Health Provider Network was dissolved.

3. How can we identify members still insured by Nationwide?

The most effective way to verify a member's eligibility is by contacting Customer Service at the phone number provided on the member's ID card. We understand that might not always be feasible, so we have prepared information in the table below to help you identify members still insured by Nationwide. ID cards not included in the descriptions below are likely outdated and invalid.

4. Did Allied National members move to another network?

Allied National moved all members to other provider networks effective 1/1/2008. To obtain network and benefit information for those members, contact Allied National at 1-800-825-7531.


Claims

Claims must be filed within 15 months of the date of service. For questions concerning claims or eligibility, please refer to the member's ID card effective on the date of service.

For Ohio Farm Bureau health plan members, providers with an Emdeon (formerly WebMD) contract may access the Emdeon website to file claims electronically. The Nationwide Emdeon Payer ID is 314177100. Claims for dates of services rendered after 1/1/08 will not be accepted by Nationwide and must be submitted to Medical Mutual of Ohio.

Appeals   

Appeals for processed claims must be submitted within 180 days of the date recorded on the explanation of payment.
