Columbus, Ohio - Nationwide Insurance claims representatives and agents are assisting customers in response to damage caused by recent high winds throughout Ohio and West Virginia. As of Friday morning, Nationwide has received more than 4,000 claims throughout Ohio and West Virginia.
Nationwide associates are ready to quickly respond to customer needs. Policyholders with storm damage should call the Nationwide claims hotline at 1-800-421-3535 or contact their local agent.
“Nationwide’s claims teams are prepared and ready to respond to our customers as they assess damage from high winds,” said Eric Smith, Regional Vice President of Nationwide’s Ohio and West Virginia Operations. “Many of the claims we have received so far are the result of strong winds, including downed trees and damage to roofing and siding.”
Individuals affected by the storms can take steps to protect property from further damage:
• Make sure the electric source adjacent to the damaged area is
disconnected.
• If water is flowing to the home, shut off the water supply.
• Inventory and dispose of any perishable items.
• Prevent the growth of bacteria and mildew. Immediately inventory and
place all moist content materials in a dry location.
• Retain damaged items to allow for proper evaluation.
