Nationwide selects Cain Hayes to lead public-sector retirement plan sales

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Nationwide Financial Services, Inc. today announced that Cain Hayes will serve as senior vice president and chief sales officer for Nationwide Retirement Solutions (NRS).

In his new role, Hayes will lead Nationwide’s distribution teams for public-sector retirement plan sales, bundled retirement plan services and managed accounts for retirement plans. Hayes will also be responsible for leading the management of key customer and business partner relationships.

“Cain has served as the interim head of public-sector sales since November of last year and has led the NRS sales organization to solid performance,” said Anne Arvia, senior vice president of Nationwide retirement plans. “Cain’s appointment to this role will give us the leadership we need as we look to grow sales in our public-sector, bundled and managed accounts businesses.”

Hayes joined Nationwide in 2008 as vice president and managing director of its bundled retirement plans business. Prior to joining Nationwide, Cain spent 17 years with Principal Financial Group, holding different leadership positions at the regional and national level within their retirement plans sales organization.

Hayes earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa and a Master’s in Business Administration degree from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. In addition, Cain earned the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation from The American College and the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
