Columbus, OH — To assist Ohio residents as they clean up from tornadoes and severe weather that swept through the state on Sept. 16, the Nationwide Insurance Foundation donated $25,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief to aid victims.
At least eight tornadoes and severe weather struck central and southeastern Ohio, affecting Athens, Meigs, Perry, Fairfield, Pickaway, Delaware and Wayne counties. At least 13 people were injured in Athens.
“These tornadoes have had a profound impact on many Ohioans,” said Chad Jester, president of the Nationwide Insurance Foundation. “We’re proud to make this donation to the American Red Cross to help people in our region rebuild their lives.”
The American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund will help meet immediate needs of victims of the recent flooding, providing food, shelter, emotional support, clean up kits and other assistance for Ohio families and communities as they begin to rebuild their lives. People interested in donating to the Red Cross may donate online at www.redcross.org, call 1-800 RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767), or text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 mobile donation.
Nationwide’s claims teams are available across the state to assist affected policyholders. In the event of a policyholder needing to file an insurance claim, representatives are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to assist them. Policyholders with storm damage should call the Nationwide claims hotline at 1-800-421-3535 or contact their local agent.
