Nationwide Insurance Foundation Announces $300,000 Donation to Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund for Sandy Response
Nationwide Insurance Foundation lends much needed financial and personal support to aid in the recovery efforts for millions left devastated by Sandy

Columbus, OH — As efforts are underway across the northeast to clean-up the massive damage that resulted from Sandy, Nationwide Insurance is joining forces with the American Red Cross to support the people in these communities that have endured tremendous loss. The Nationwide Insurance Foundation announced today a $300,000 donation to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to aid the growing number of families in need.
Sandy has caused widespread devastation to entire communities throughout this region as evidenced by more than 21,000 claims that have already been made through our agents and call centers.
“We are compassionate about how the devastation is affecting people right now and the impact it has caused in their personal lives," said Chad Jester, president of the Nationwide Insurance Foundation. "We want to make every effort possible to help the victims of this terrible disaster work toward recovery.”
Along with this donation, Nationwide is working to deploy agents and associates to this region to provide information to its members and support to the communities where it is needed the most.
“Hurricane Sandy’s winds, rains and snow brought devastation and uncertainty to millions of people. The impact of Hurricane Sandy will be felt up and down the East Coast and even further West, and the road to recovery will be long for many families,” said Neal Litvack, American Red Cross chief development officer. “Through the generosity of its partners such as the Nationwide Insurance Foundation, the American Red Cross can quickly respond with shelter, food and comforting words, helping affected residents during the storm and afterward as they move toward recovery.”
The American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund will help meet immediate needs of victims of the storm by providing food, shelter, emotional support, clean up kits and other assistance for families and communities as they begin to rebuild their lives.
