Carl Edwards Encourages Teen Safe Driving

Hey Racing Fans,

I’m Carl Edwards and welcome to Nationwide's Driving While Distracted website. I'm working with Nationwide to talk about driving safety tips and the consequences of driving while distracted.

In today's world there are distractions all around us. Whether I'm on or off the track, I'm always focused on the road ahead. And I'm here to remind you to do the same. Nationwide has put together some helpful driving safety tips and information about driving while distracted to help you become a safer driver.

Nationwide & NASCAR work to prevent teens driving while texting

The NASCAR and Nationwide partnership is helping to raise awareness about driving while texting as part of its new sponsorship of the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Drivers will visit high schools and encourage teens to be smart drivers and stop texting while behind the wheel to lower teen driving risk.

To drive home the message that multitasking behind the wheel puts drivers and their fellow motorists as risk, students and community members can see first hand the impact text messaging has on their driving abilities while racing in a NASCAR simulator.

At these free Driving While Distracted events, fans can meet the drivers and get autographs, have their photo taken at the NASCAR imaging station, get free NASCAR giveaways and the chance to win great prizes. The grand prize includes tickets to both of the weekend’s NASCAR races, behind-the-scenes NASCAR and ESPN tours, and a ride in the Nationwide Series race car.
