Gary A. Douglas
President and Chief Operating Officer, Nationwide Agribusiness
Gary A. Douglas is President and Chief Operating Officer of Nationwide Agribusiness Insurance Company and Farmland Mutual Insurance Company. In this capacity, he oversees daily operations of the two insurers who, together, do business as Nationwide Agribusiness. He was elected to this position in November 2007 and became a director for both companies' Boards of Directors at the same time.
Before joining Nationwide Agribusiness, Douglas served as regional vice president for Allied Insurance's Central States Region, and prior to that, regional vice president for Nationwide Insurance in New York. Allied and Nationwide Agribusiness are affiliated companies of Nationwide.
Douglas's career at Nationwide began in 1997 as a sales manager in Akron, Ohio. During his time with the organization, he has held various leadership positions including sales officer for Texas, administrative officer for state operations, and associate vice president for the Nationwide Insurance affinity operations.
He currently serves on the Boards of the Iowa Insurance Institute, Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Iowa, and is national co-chair for Farm Safety 4 Just Kids' Endowment Steering Committee.
Douglas received his undergraduate degree from St. Cloud State University and his MBA from Eastern Michigan University.
