Mark A. Pizzi
President and Chief Operating Officer, Nationwide Insurance
Mark Pizzi is President and Chief Operating Officer of Nationwide
Insurance. He was elected to this position in October 2009 and leads the
business unit delivering products and services through the exclusive
agency and direct channels. Mark joined Nationwide in 1978.
Most recently, he served as President for Customer Choice Distribution,
a post created in 2006 to focus on direct marketing, affinity, strategic
partnerships, sponsor relations and the internet. Mark began his career
at Nationwide as a personal lines underwriter in Harrisburg,
Pennsylvania, and held a variety of underwriting and service positions in
Canton, Columbus and Annapolis before being named State Officer of
Delaware in 1994. He was named Regional Vice President of Virginia in
1997 and of New York in 1999, and was then elected Senior Vice President
of Regional Operations for the Northern Region in 2003.
Mark is a member of the Board of Directors for Buckeye Ranch, serving as Chairman and on the Programs and Services Committee and as the Capital Campaign Chair. He also serves as Board Vice Chairman and Executive Committee Chairman for the Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety (IBHS).
Mark holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Mansfield University and the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation.
