Mark Thresher
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Nationwide
Mark Thresher is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Nationwide. He was elected to this position in October 2009. He is responsible for the financial operations of Nationwide, directing the Office of Finance, which includes Treasury, Risk Management, Accounting, Financial Reporting and Taxation. In addition to leading the finance team, Mark will also oversee our Investment operation and Nationwide Realty Investors.
He previously served in leadership roles at Nationwide Financial including President and Chief Operating Officer, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He joined Nationwide as Vice President and Treasurer in 1996. Prior to joining Nationwide, Thresher spent 18 years with the accounting firm KPMG, LLP.
Mark earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from Otterbein College.
He is board chair and President of the Association of Ohio Life Insurance Companies and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He serves on the Financial Services Roundtable. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the American Council of Life Insurers, serving on both the Nominating Committee and the Retirement and Financial Security Steering Committee.
He also is a member of the Otterbein College Board of Trustees where he chairs the Audit Committee and serves on the Investment and Advancement Committees. Mark will serve as the 2009-2010 statewide campaign chair for the Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges, for which he currently is a board member and serves on the Program Services Committee.
Mark was a congressional delegate for the 2006 National Summit on Retirement Savings held in Washington, D.C. In addition, he is chair-elect of the COSI Columbus Board of Trustees.
