Patricia R. Hatler

Executive Vice President, Chief Legal and Governance Officer, Nationwide
Pat Hatler is Executive Vice President and Chief Legal and Governance Officer for Nationwide. She was elected to this position in 2003 and joined Nationwide in 1999.
She previously served as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Independence Blue Cross in Philadelphia. Her legal career also includes service with Dechert, Price and Rhoads in Philadelphia; Fulbright and Jaworski in Houston; and Stinson, Mag and Fizzel in Kansas City.
Pat is a member of the Columbus Conference of Corporate General Counsels and is the 2010 Chair of the Board of Directors of the Association of Corporate Counsel. She is also a member of the City of Columbus Accountability Committee. Pat is a director on the boards of the United Way of Central Ohio, the Columbus College of Art and Design, and the Kents Hill School.
She is a magna cum laude graduate of Duke University, where she earned a bachelor's degree with honors in cognitive psychology. She earned her law degree from the University of Virginia, where she was a Hardy Dillard Fellow. She is a frequent speaker at professional conferences and Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs.
