Longer retirement horizons fuel enhancements to investment options for Nationwide Financial®

COLUMBUS, Ohio — To ensure investment professionals have the quality investment alternatives their clients may need to help fund longer, more active retirement horizons, Nationwide Financial Services, Inc. (NYSE: NFS), today announced it will enhance its variable life and annuity products on May 1 with the addition of nine new investment options and updates to its asset allocation models.

“We’re focused on providing options that can help investment professionals best meet their clients’ portfolio diversification needs,” said John Carter, president of Nationwide Financial Distributors, Inc. “For more than 20 years we’ve partnered with some of the most respected money managers in the business to develop comprehensive investment solutions, and these additions to our fund lineup continue that tradition.”

New investment options will include the following:

  • American Funds GVIT Asset Allocation Fund
  • American Funds GVIT Bond Fund
  • American Funds GVIT Growth Fund
  • American Funds GVIT Global Growth Fund
  • Federated Market Opportunity Fund II
  • FTVIP Franklin Income Securities Fund
  • GVIT International Index Fund
  • Janus Aspen Series: International Growth Portfolio
  • Janus Aspen Series: Forty Portfolio

 

In response to feedback from investment professionals, Carter said Nationwide will be offering the new investment options to both new and established variable products.

“We’re committed to simpler solutions for our business partners and value their input,” said Carter. “Adding these new investment options to existing products offers clients portfolio diversification without complication.”

Carter added that Nationwide’s investment research team constantly monitors and evaluates their fund lineup, making adjustments as necessary to ensure investment professionals have alternatives that may help achieve investment objectives for clients.

In addition to adding new investment options, Nationwide is also working with Ibbotson Associates Advisors, LLC to update its asset allocation models with the addition of a short-term bond category.
