Columbus, Ohio – The Nationwide Foundation announced today a commitment for grants totaling $15,629,480. The grants will help more than 1,000 non-profit organizations, including more than 700 local United Way chapters across the country. This is the largest grant commitment Nationwide has ever announced.

Grants announced today, combined with nearly $9 million in donations from Nationwide associates, will add up to more than $24 million in charitable contributions for 2006. More than half of the grants announced today are directed by Nationwide associates, whose gifts to local United Way chapters and educational institutions will be matched by the Nationwide Foundation.

“We’re pleased to announce our largest grant commitment ever,” said Chad Jester, president of the Nationwide Foundation. “As Nationwide grows, so does our ability to help in the communities where our associates work and live. Many of the organizations we support provide crucial services to people in immediate need of things like food, shelter, health care and disaster relief.”

Grant recipients include American Red Cross, United Way, Community Shelter Board, Columbus Housing Partnership, King Arts Complex, Children’s Hospital Foundation, The National Civil Rights Museum, Homeless Families Foundation and Mid-Ohio FoodBank.

The Nationwide Foundation is an independent corporation funded by contributions from Nationwide companies. Since 1959, the Nationwide Foundation has worked to positively affect the quality of life in communities where its associates, agents and their families live and work.
