COLUMBUS, Ohio — Nationwide Financial Services, Inc. (NYSE: NFS) is continuing its initiative to help investment professionals with their clients’ retirement income needs by offering a second year of Advanced Income Planning Strategies meetings. Approximately 50 educational seminars will take place throughout the country between May 15 and July 31.
“These meetings are to help investment professionals who are focused on retirement income strategies for their clients,” said John Carter, president of Nationwide Financial Distributors, Inc.
Depending on location, Carter said the Advanced Income Planning Strategies 4.0 meetings will consist of both large and small group sessions. All meetings will include case studies that cover topics such as structuring cash flows in retirement, managing wealth transfer and helping couples prepare for retirement.
“These can be sensitive topics that need to be addressed between investment professionals and their clients,” Carter said. “Whether it’s managing income to cover thirty-year retirement periods, making sure both spouses are involved in financial planning or wealth transfer strategies for widows, our objective in these meetings is to help investment professionals be prepared with solutions for their clients.”
Added to the agenda at various locations this year is keynote speaker Duncan MacPherson, co-founder and co-CEO of Pareto Systems and Pareto Platform, an industry leading business development firm and Application Service Provider dedicated to financial companies.
MacPherson, a noted speaker and best-selling author, will discuss how
investment professionals can:
• Attract a Higher Quality and Quantity of Referrals
• Shift from Salesperson to Consultant
• Turn Their Book into a Business
• Create a Service Matrix
• Get to Know Their Client
• Discover Overlooked Vulnerabilities and Untapped Opportunities
• Face the Future with Anticipation
• Concentrate on Implementation
Representatives from Nationwide Financial fund partners Fidelity and MFS will also present at various seminars on the schedule.
While case study topics have changed from last year, Carter noted one aspect of the meetings will return due to positive feedback: attendees will again receive income planning materials that they can share with clients.
“Investment professionals who attended meetings last year said these materials are extremely valuable when discussing retirement income planning with clients,” Carter said.
In addition to review and discussion around case studies, the sessions consist of an overview of distribution planning risks, including longevity, inflation and investments, and a review of the type of products available in the marketplace to address those risks.
Nationwide Financial held more than 200 income planning meetings in 2006, which were slightly modified throughout the year based on input they received from investment professionals that attended.
“We want to be sure we’re responding to the needs of investment professionals by addressing the topics that are most important to their clients,” said Carter. “Harvesting retirement income will remain a top priority for investment professionals and we’re committed to providing simpler solutions they can use to help address clients’ needs.”
Attendees earn continuing education (CE) credit or receive an online certificate, where applicable.
