Nationwide Financial names Eric Henderson to lead Individual Investments Group

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Nationwide Financial Services, Inc. (NYSE: NFS), today announced that Eric Henderson has been named to lead the company’s Individual Investments Group, which includes fixed and variable annuities. Henderson will be responsible for all aspects of the segment, including managing its profitability, executing strategic initiatives, driving strategic positioning and product development, and overseeing operational efficiencies.
Mark Thresher, president and chief operating officer of Nationwide Financial, said Henderson’s extensive experience with Nationwide, annuities and the financial services industry made him a natural fit for the position.
“Eric’s knowledge of the annuity business gained through more than 20 years at Nationwide, combined with his strong management and communication skills, makes him a valuable addition to our leadership team,” Thresher said.
Henderson, who was previously vice president and chief financial officer of the business, has been leading the Individual Investments Group on an interim basis since January 2007. Henderson began his career at Nationwide as an actuarial assistant in 1985 and spent much of his career as an actuary in individual annuities. Since that time, he has held positions of increasing responsibility, including senior actuarial officer for both retail sales support and individual variable annuities, and vice president and product manager for individual variable annuities and income products.
Henderson holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees in mathematics from The Ohio State University and is a Fellow in the Society of Actuaries.
