Columbus, OH — Nationwide Insurance claims representatives and agents are assisting customers in response to damage caused by high winds throughout Ohio.
Procedures are in place providing quick response to customers needs. Policyholders with storm damage should call the Nationwide claims hotline at 1-800-421-3535 or contact their local agent.
“Nationwide’s claims teams are prepared and ready to respond as our customers begin to assess damage from high winds,” said David Arango, regional vice president for Nationwide’s Ohio operations. “Many of the claims we have received so far are the result of strong winds, including downed trees and damage to roofing and siding.”
Individuals affected by the storms can take steps to protect property from further damage:
- Make sure the electric source adjacent to the damaged area is disconnected.
- If water is flowing to the home, shut off the water supply.
- Inventory and dispose of any perishable items.
- Prevent the growth of bacteria and mildew. Immediately inventory and place all moist content materials in a dry location.
- Retain damaged items to allow for proper evaluation.
