Stephen S. Rasmussen

Chief Executive Officer, Nationwide

Steve Rasmussen is Chief Executive Officer of Nationwide. He was elected to this position in 2009.

Prior to being elected CEO, he was President and Chief Operating Officer of Property and Casualty operations for Nationwide from 2003-2009.

He previously served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Allied Insurance and held the same positions with CalFarm Insurance, an affiliated company. Earlier, he served as Allied's Executive Vice President for Product Management, Vice President for Underwriting and Regional Vice President for the Pacific Coast Region. He joined Allied in 1974.

Steve serves on the boards of the National Urban League, Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the OhioHealth Board of Directors, and the Columbus Metropolitan Library. He is a member of the Columbus Partnership, an organization focused on economic development. He also previously served as a trustee for Grand View College in Des Moines, Iowa, and as co-chair for the United Way of Central Ohio Alexis de Tocqueville Vingt-Cinq Society campaign.

He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Iowa and holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation.
