Underage Drinking Statistics

Nationwide's survey methodology for underage drinking and driving statistics

Nationwide recently conducted a survey focusing on current opinions and feelings about teenage drinking. These underage drinking and driving statistics gathered from the survey show a growing concern over the impact of underage drinking on car accidents and strong opposition to lowering the drinking age from 21 to 18. Survey methodology:

  • The telephone survey of 2,006 American households was conducted in April 2008 with Opinion Research Corporation and has a +/-2.2 percent margin of error.
  • Binge drinking is defined as having five or more drinks at one occasion.
