Minimize the Impact After Loss

You can take a number of steps after a property loss or damage to protect your property, prevent further damage and reduce the time it may take to restore it. Things you can do:

  • Make reasonable temporary repairs
  • Photograph damaged property prior to repairs
  • Secure property such as windows, doors and roofs as necessary
  • Keep receipts of expenses you incurred to secure your property

Your duties after a loss

Your policy notes a specific list of things you must do after an accident or loss, such as:

  • Notifying us as soon as practical
  • Notifying the police in case of theft
  • Protecting the property from further damage

Temporary repairs

After a loss you should make any temporary repairs necessary to avoid further damage.
