Affordable Travel Tips
Winter is a great time to plan your next vacation. If you do your research and are willing to be flexible, you can enjoy a getaway for less than you think. Here are a few tips to get started.
Go against the crowd
Consider visiting somewhere in the off-season. Everyone else is hitting the beach in the winter, but you can get a great deal if you’re willing to try somewhere less tropical. Plus, your destination won’t be as crowded.
Travel on the weekdays – many resorts and hotels offer big price breaks on weeknight stays. Also, be flexible with your travel dates. Check hotel prices on several different days and see if you can get a discount if you choose a different day or week.
Save on dining
Unless you’re a real gourmand, you probably aren’t planning your trip around the food - so there’s no reason to let it break your budget.
Skip the hotel restaurant (unless it’s included in your package). You can probably eat better and cheaper if you go down the street.
Also, hit the local grocery store and stock up on snacks for breakfast and lunch. You’ll save money and will get to spend more of your vacation enjoying your location instead of sitting in a restaurant.
Protect your trip
Once you plan your getaway, don’t let anything get in your way. Make sure you are covered with trip insurance from Nationwide.
