Who should have life insurance?

Life insurance is designed to provide financial resources when someone dies. So, anyone with people who are financially dependent on them should consider life insurance.

We typically think that life insurance is only for people who are married or have children.

Here are some examples of others who may want to consider life insurance:

  • Single people who support siblings, aging parents or others
  • Singles with debt (credit card debt, car loans, etc.) that someone else would be responsible for in the event of their death
  • Soon-to-be married couples who are creating joint financial obligations
  • Those who were recently promoted or changed jobs and now have higher income and greater financial obligations
  • Business owners thinking about business succession or keeping key employees
  • Individuals who are retired or close to retirement
