Nationwide Funds’ online tool lets advisors make unrestricted fund comparisons

November 11, 2013

Fund Analyzer powered by Morningstar® provides efficiency and easy access to full universe of mutual funds

King of Prussia, Pennsylvania - Nationwide Funds continues to receive positive feedback from advisors about its Fund Analyzer, an online mutual funds resource powered by Morningstar® that provides side-by-side comparisons of mutual funds. This first-to-market tool allows financial advisors to evaluate mutual funds without first logging into an account.

Located on the Nationwide Funds website and designed for use on desktops, tablets and mobile devices, the new tool gives advisors immediate access to up to five funds at a time of their choice from Morningstar’s entire database of mutual funds. Financial advisors can search for funds by asset class, fund family, fund name or ticker symbol, and results include summary, performance, ratings, risk, portfolio, operations and fees.

“We had extensive input from advisors in developing our Fund Analyzer and they wanted access to comparison tools without the time-consuming or proprietary fund restrictions imposed by other platforms,” said Michael Spangler, president of Nationwide Funds. “This type of enhanced online experience exemplifies our commitment to meeting the needs of advisors and demonstrates our ability to not only match, but exceed industry standards.”

“Nationwide’s goal for their Fund Analyzer aligned well with our ‘investors come first’ approach. Our objective is to produce high-quality, well-designed and innovative web tools that help improve the overall investing experience. The tool that we implemented for Nationwide does just that.  It helps advisors research, analyze, present and support their investment ideas, anytime, anywhere.” said Shani Maguire, senior product manager for Morningstar.

In addition to introducing the Fund Analyzer, Nationwide Funds has also enhanced its fund profile pages with interactive data components provided by Morningstar, offering a full extent of detailed fund information to help financial advisors perform their due diligence. These pages include all retail mutual funds, with selections for individual share class.

Video profiles have also been added to the website for the new subadvisers introduced with Nationwide Funds’ recent $3.8 billion acquisition of 17 equity and bond mutual funds from HighMark Capital Management, Inc.

In addition to the web enhancements, Nationwide Funds has also launched a Twitter feed and a LinkedIn Group to raise awareness and drive engagement with advisors.

“At Nationwide Funds, we are relentless in our drive to provide the best and broadest range of financial products and services for advisors and their clients,” Spangler said. “By maintaining multiple channels of communication, we ensure that our tools, insights and offerings are easily accessible to advisors in whatever format or platform they prefer.”
