Mark Pizzi, CPCU

Mark Pizzi is President and Chief Operating Officer of Nationwide. He currently oversees the Bank and Nonstandard Operations.

Most recently, Mark led the Direct and Member Solutions organization, which was the business unit delivering sales and services through the direct channels, including the direct sales, claims, customer service and banking areas.

Mark began his career at Nationwide in 1978 as a personal lines underwriter in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and held a variety of underwriting and service positions in Canton, Columbus and Annapolis before being named State Officer of Delaware in 1994. He was named Regional Vice President of Virginia in 1997 and of New York in 1999, and was elected Senior Vice President of Regional Operations for the Northern Region in 2003. Mark served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Nationwide Insurance from 2005 to 2014.

Mark is board chair of The Buckeye Ranch holding company; and board co-chair for Turning Point, a domestic violence shelter in Delaware County. He also is past board chair for the Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety (IBHS).

Mark holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Mansfield University and the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.
