Nationwide has been a sponsor of the Columbus Marathon since its inception in 1980, and a title sponsor since 2007. But what has made our sponsorship even more special the past 4 years is that the title beneficiary of Ohio’s largest marathon is a partner we’ve been committed to for more than 60 years.
Nationwide Children’s Hospital, which provides world-class care to every child, regardless of a family’s ability to pay, is the sole beneficiary of the race. Since 2012, the marathon has raised more than $3 million for the hospital, including $1.2 million last year.
Help us keep the momentum going. Join us for the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Columbus Marathon and ½ Marathon on Sunday, October 18, 2015.
26.2 Miles; 26 Patient Champions
This year's race features 26 Patient Champions stationed along the 26.2 Miracle Miles that make up the route. At Mile 12 will be Nationwide's Patient Champion – 18 year-old Casper Montgomery – who was treated at Nationwide Children's Hospital for elevated triglycerides. Now eating right and exercising regularly, Casper has lost 100 pounds and is an inspiration to others who strive for a healthier lifestyle.
Our Mile 12 theme – “Run to Your Own Rhythm” – honors Casper’s love for music, which includes marching band, concert band and playing the euphonium.
