Do I have to purchase a boat through an authorized dealer in order to get boat financing?

No. You can buy your boat from a dealership or private party to get a new or used boat loan from Nationwide Bank. The name and address of a private party must match the vehicle title when entering it within the application.

What boats are not eligible for a Nationwide loan?

Nationwide Bank does not offer loans on boats that have a salvage title or with a model year before 1960. Specific types of vehicles such as jet skis, rowing boats and inflatable boats are not eligible for financing.

After I am approved, how quickly can I get a check?

Because Nationwide Bank is a digital bank, everything happens online, including financing your boat. We make it easy by sending the funds from your loan directly to the seller.

Here's how it works:

In our boat loan application, we will ask you for the address and phone number of the seller.

Once you’ve signed your loan documents, we will email you a secure Funding Code and a link to the Nationwide Payment Center. When you’re ready to get your boat, simply share this information with the seller. The seller will tell Nationwide Bank where to deposit the funds, and you can drive home in style.

Please note, if you purchase a boat through a private individual, the price of the boat will go straight to the seller. The rest of your loan will go into your account for you to pay tax and any fees as part of the purchase. Be sure you receive the signed title of the boat so you can send it to Nationwide Bank.

For boat refinance loans, we will send the check directly to the lender.

Is it possible to pay off my boat loan early?

Yes. Nationwide Bank does not charge a penalty for paying off your loan early.

What isn’t included in the price of my boat?

Be sure you factor in sales tax, any dealer fees and the cost of an extended warranty if you purchase one.

Make sure your boat is protected in and out of the water. Get a boat loan insurance quote from Nationwide today.
