The Kadance Hereditary Cancer Risk Test and the Kadance Pharmacogenomic (PGx) Test have been developed to help individuals manage their health. The process and methodology for delivering these tests are highly regulated, comprehensive and complex. They’re known as clinical-grade tests because they’re ordered by a physician and used for medical purposes.
You’re eligible to purchase the Kadance service because you own a Nationwide life insurance policy.
Coverage is available for individuals ages 18 to 80. Anyone can purchase coverage, but they must be cancer-free for 1 year before they can take advantage of the comprehensive genomic profiling, second opinion and recurrence monitoring upon a cancer diagnosis. They can have hereditary risk and PGx testing even if they have not been cancer-free for 1 year.

There are many complex reasons why health insurance plans have been slow to reimburse precision cancer services. Physician awareness, health system processes and practices, and inconsistent medical necessity guidance are some of the well-documented issues. In addition, health insurance companies have a different economic model from life and critical illness insurance companies, meaning they’re not always able to provide access to the same services.
