Mark Anderson

Mark leads all aspects of Commercial Property Claims, including strategy, innovation, service and quality for both Nationwide Commercial and Nationwide Agribusiness.


Mark joined Nationwide in January 2014 as Associate Vice President of Commercial Property Technical Claims. Prior to joining Nationwide, Mark worked 36 years for Liberty Mutual where he was Vice President of Commercial Property, Auto and Liability Claims prior to his retirement.



John Anthony

John leads the Excess & Surplus Contract Property & Casualty, Excess/Umbrella and Underwriting Insights teams. He brings 16 years of experience in underwriting, agency management, risk management, program and product development, and technology system development in the Excess and Surplus Lines field. Prior to his current role, John worked in a similar Underwriting Management capacity for other E&S insurance carriers in the Scottsdale, Ariz., area.


John received his Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Arizona University and his MBA from the University of Phoenix. He is a graduate of the NAPSLO E&S School & Advanced School and the Select Management and Leadership program. Additionally, John is a member of the Board of Directors for the California Insurance Wholesalers Association.


Ivan Castaño

Ivan manages the Central Atlantic and Southeast regions' construction business.


He has been in the insurance industry for over 20 years, with a diverse background in claims and underwriting. Throughout his career, Ivan has worked at other national carriers leading regional workers' compensation and underwriting teams.


Ivan is fluent in Spanish and is a graduate of the University of Central Florida, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a minor in Latin American Studies.


Mary Chelf

Mary leads Loss Control for the Specialty Care Services (Human Services and Senior Living) practice and supports the National Retail Programs business. She also develops strategies and resources to support both territory managers and members with their risk management needs.


Mary has over 34 years of experience in the insurance industry as a Loss Control professional. She joined Nationwide in 2005 and has led the Loss Control Services field efforts for the Rocky Mountain Regional Office, the Pacific Coast Regional Office and the Pacific West Regional Office.


Mary graduated from the University of Central Missouri with a Bachelor of Science in industrial safety and a minor in management. She is an active member of the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP).


John Doherty

John is the Staff Leader for Nationwide's Middle Market Practice Group, including Construction, Specialty Care Services (Senior Living and Human Services) and National Retail Programs. He has over 12 years of experience across Underwriting, Product and Legal.


John is licensed to practice law in Ohio. He is a graduate of the University of Dayton School of Law, The Ohio State University's Fisher College of Business with a specialization in Risk Management and Insurance. He has also completed executive education from the Fisher College of Business with a focus on Operational Excellence and the Lean Management System.



Andre leads all technical aspects related to property evaluations. This includes training; report review; standardization; and consulting involving structure fire, fire protection, special hazards and wildfire evaluation.

Prior to Nationwide, Andre worked in insurance, specializing in property/fire. His background includes Factory Mutual Engineering, Chubb, and The Travelers Companies. In addition, he was also a firefighter, a fire investigator and a fire chief.


Andre graduated from Cleveland State University with a degree in Engineering. He holds a Professional Engineer registration in the states of Ohio and Arizona.


Tony Fenton

Tony is an experienced professional in the leadership of multi-line commercial property and casualty operations. He started his insurance career with Allied in 1997 as a Commercial Lines Intern and has held roles of increasing scope and responsibility, including Underwriter, Production Underwriter, Manager, Underwriting Director, and several Officer-level roles at both CNA and Nationwide.


As Vice President of Commercial Lines Underwriting and Product, Tony is responsible for driving operational performance through underwriting leadership and strategic alignment between cross-functional units.


Tony's education includes a Bachelor of Science in business management with a marketing specialization from Simpson College. He is also active in many nonprofit organizations, including United Way and as a Board Member for the Idaho Surveying and Rating Bureau.


Gary Flaherty

Gary leads the Commercial Auto division at Nationwide E&S/Specialty. With more than 24 years in the insurance industry, he has extensive experience in managing geographically dispersed teams in Underwriting, Risk Management and Claims in the Commercial Trucking space.


He joined Nationwide in January 2018. Previously, Gary was Assistant Vice President of Fleet Underwriting, Risk Management and Claims at Canal Insurance. He has also led the Claims division for the Commercial Trucking sector at Progressive Insurance and served in claims leadership roles at Progressive branch offices.


Gary holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Pennsylvania State University and a dual Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (Finance and Economics) from Kutztown University in Pennsylvania.


Molly Flanagan

Molly Flanagan has nearly two decades of experience in workers' compensation claims, holding various leadership roles throughout her career. Her experience spans across the workers' compensation industry, working with both monoline and P&C carriers, managing large loss claims, driving cross-functional strategy and participating in public policy WC research. Molly completed her undergraduate studies at Saint Mary's College and received her law degree from the Michigan State University College of Law. She is an active member of the bar association workers' compensation practice group, a member of the NCCI Medical Data Call Research Committee and a member of the Rising Medical Workers Compensation Benchmarking Study Committee.


Pete Frey

Pete leads Nationwide's product strategy and program development for both telematics and the internet of things. That includes connected fleet, mobility, innovation, product development and usage-based insurance as it relates to a Commercial Lines connected business framework.


He began his career in the automotive industry, followed by more than 20 years in insurance technology. In addition to working for two major insurance carriers, he has also developed products for service providers.


Pete has a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of Texas at El Paso, and a management certificate in technology management and leadership from the MIT Sloan School of Management.


Anthony’s expertise includes highly protected risks, general contractors, builder’s risk, manufacturing, fuel distribution and warehousing. His prior experience includes general contracting with positions in field operations to procurement. He combines industry experience with a risk management skillset to deliver solutions to mitigate property and construction risk.


Anthony is a licensed Professional Engineer in Fire Protection with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering from Iowa State University. He is a member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers and the National Fire Protection Association. He is a Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) and a Certified Continuity Manager (CCM).

Kate Harris

As leader of the risk control department at Collins & Associates Corporation, Kate oversees loss control and claims services for large commercial businesses in traditional and nontraditional markets. Kate's primary function is to assist clients with making informed risk-control and risk-reduction decisions. Kate is responsible for client and department success. Her efforts in providing client-first practices has led to significant growth for proactive risk control and claims services. She is dedicated to staying in touch with relevant, timely and predictive content to ensure that her clients are well educated in emerging risks. Kate's formal education is in Occupational Safety and Health Management. Her years of experience in fast-paced environments are the foundation for her practical solutions guidance for large businesses seeking to reduce insurance costs over time.


Vickie Kilgore

Vickie has worked in the insurance industry for the past 18 years in various roles, including as an Occupational Health Nurse, Workers' Compensation Claims Manager, and in Risk Management as a Workers' Compensation/Health and Safety subject matter expert. Prior to Nationwide, Vickie was employed with a large manufacturing company as a Senior Occupational Health Nurse Specialist/Safety Consultant.


Vickie has a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the Nebraska Methodist College and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Nebraska with a specialty in nursing informatics. She is also Certified as an Occupational Health Nurse-Specialist and Case Manager through the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses.


Robert has over 30 years of experience in the P&C industry and currently is a Senior Consultant in Enterprise Catastrophe Risk Management, where he manages wildfire risk.


He is a member of the National Fire Protection Association's Technical Committee on Wildland and Rural Fire Protection. Robert also represents Nationwide on the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety's Residential Committee and its Wildfire Work Group.


Robert has spoken at national wildfire conferences, participated in panel discussions, and given radio interviews on the topic of wildfire preparedness and risk mitigation.


He also works on a U.S. Forest Service Community Wildfire Mitigation Assistance Team and is red carded as a Wildland/Urban Interface Technical Specialist.


Jim Lindsey

Jim is the Senior Workers' Compensation Consultant in Commercial Lines middle-market operations. He has 30 years' experience in commercial loss control services blended among field consulting, field underwriting and department management, emphasizing workers' compensation coverage.


Jim has earned a B.S. in Occupational Safety & Health, an M.S. in Human Resource Training and Development, and his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership with a specialty in business. He is a Certified Safety Professional® (CSP®) and an Associate in Risk ManagementTM (ARMTM).


John Lopes

John Lopes leads the Management Liability and Specialty programs division and Alternative Ventures at Nationwide. With more than 30 years of experience, John is an expert at managing profitable portfolios across Management, Professional and Specialty Lines of business. He has extensive expertise in both the open brokerage and program approaches to the business, and has spent the majority of his career managing primary books of business.


John joined Nationwide in January 2008 and has built extensive relationships over the years at the retail and wholesale brokerage levels as well as with the reinsurance community. He enjoys taking on new challenges, pursuing innovation within existing products, and exploring emerging areas of risk. In addition, he is a member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS) and is an active community service participant, dedicating time to the homeless youth program Covenant House and United Way of Long Island.


John received his bachelor's degree in Economics from Wesleyan University.


Mark McGhiey

Mark's organizations provide solution-based risk management services, specialized claims management and premium audits to commercial insureds across the United States ranging from small proprietors to large industrial operations.


Mark is a board member of the Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS) and sits on the Commercial Committee for the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety.


Mark has a degree from Illinois State University. He holds Certified Safety Professional and Certified Fire Protection Specialist designations.


Peter McMurtrie

Peter leads all aspects of Commercial Lines P&C, including product, underwriting, claims, service, sales and distribution.


Prior to his role as President, Peter served as Nationwide's Senior Vice President of Emerging Businesses. By thinking differently and finding new revenue streams, he helped Nationwide evolve and adapt to disruptive forces that are challenging the insurance industry. He also developed strategic partnerships to take products to market in new ways and identified new revenue opportunities outside of Nationwide's core businesses.


Peter has held two additional positions since joining Nationwide in 2015: Vice President of Middle Market Underwriting and Business Development, and Vice President of Sales Design and Development for Property & Casualty Sales.


He graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree. Peter also serves on the Board of Directors for the St. Vincent Family Center.


Jason Ragsdale

Jason leads the Loss Control Services Construction Practice and the Southwestern Regional team. He continues to develop the construction team to provide a high level of individualized service to construction members across the United States.


Jason has over 20 years of experience in the construction and insurance industry as a safety professional. He has worked directly on large construction sites as a general contractor and worked with a monoline workers' compensation carrier.


Jason graduated from the University of Central Missouri with a Bachelor of Science degree in Safety Management. He is an active member of the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP). Jason holds the Certified Safety Professional® (CSP), Certified Insurance Counselor® (CIC) and Construction Health and Safety Technician® (CHST) designations.


Lance Reeve

Lance specializes in food safety, food defense training and program development for the food industry. Prior to joining Nationwide, he spent 21 years with AIB International and was responsible for organizing their food defense programs.


Lance co-developed the food defense seminars that AIB International has provided around the world, co-authored "The AIB Guide to Food Defense" and co-authored AIB's Food Safety and Sanitation Distance Learning Course.


During his 26-year career, Lance has taught food safety and food defense seminars within the U.S. and abroad. He has also authored articles for technical bulletins and trade journals on food safety and food defense, and has presented at dozens of technical conferences.


Lance is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a degree in Environmental and Public Health. He is also a certified HACCP instructor through the International HACCP Alliance, a Lead Instructor for the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance for Human Food, and a Lead Instructor for the Produce Safety Rules.


Catherine Rudow

Catherine works with many departments within Nationwide to expand cyber insurance offerings to meet the needs of its members. Her in-depth knowledge of cyber risk also extends to developing strategies for non-cyber traditional lines of business that are exposed to technology and the internet.


Catherine has over 25 years of experience in the reinsurance industry covering a wide range of casualty lines of business. Prior to joining Nationwide, Catherine worked at PartnerRe as a senior-level underwriter, where she built the cyber insurance portfolio and branded PartnerRe as a lead reinsurance market for cyber insurance business.


Catherine has a Bachelor of Commerce in international business and a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Concordia University in Montreal, and an MBA from Yale University.


Zerona Sharpe

Zerona leads a team of Middle Market Business Development and Underwriting experts within the General Industries practice. She joined the Nationwide organization in 2016 as an Underwriting Specialist before moving into a leadership role as Construction Underwriting Manager in 2018. In her current role as Director, Zerona is responsible for driving growth, profitability, retention and overall satisfaction with key distribution partners.


With over 20 years in the commercial Property & Casualty space, her background includes underwriting for Zurich, Chubb, Allied World and Philadelphia Insurance Companies. Her underwriting expertise spans 50 states for all lines of business.


Zerona holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Eastern University in Pennsylvania, along with the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Underwriting (AU) designations. She is an active member within the CPCU society at a local and national level; she was recently appointed as the Chair of the Emerging Leaders Committee.



Bill Skapof

William (Bill) Skapof is the CEO of N2G. Prior to leading N2G, he joined Generali in 2015 to build its U.S. and foreign markets, serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer for Generali in North America. He is a senior P&C underwriting sales executive with more than 30 years of experience developing highly successful product, distribution and sales strategies in support of global commercial markets, having established successful multinational capabilities for Chubb, AIG and Zurich.



Linda Stueber

Linda leads the General Industry, Construction and Specialty Care Service practice teams from an underwriting and business development standpoint. She joined Nationwide in April 2017 as the Vice President of Construction Underwriting, having over 30 years of experience in the commercial property and casualty industry, the last 20 years as a construction industry specialist.


A founding member of Travelers' Construction division, she most recently served as Regional Vice President for Travelers' Southern Construction region prior to joining Nationwide.


Linda graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and holds Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designations.


Aaron Symonds

At Collins & Associates Corporation, Aaron is an executive working on commercial business in coordination with the risk control and account management teams dedicated to managing the total cost of risk. Serving as a risk manager for large commercial businesses, Aaron routinely evaluates and presents both traditional and nontraditional insurance alternatives to his clients. His primary goal is to make sure that his clients understand their risks and the options they have available to them to become less reliant on insurance and drive the cost of risk down over time. Over the past 15 years, he built a multimillion-dollar book of business in both the guaranteed cost and alternative risk financing areas of the insurance business.


Cheryl Tamasitis

Cheryl leads the underwriting and business development efforts for both teams, which include Senior Living communities and Human Services industry accounts.


Cheryl joined Nationwide in 2016, but she has over 25 years of experience in the commercial property & casualty industry - with the last 15 years as a human services industry specialist. Her insurance tenure began in accounting, then evolved into production underwriting and product development on both the carrier and agency sides.


Cheryl graduated from Rowan University with a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology and a minor in business administration. She also holds a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation and is currently pursuing a Women in Leadership certificate program from Cornell University.


Simon Tanner

Simon has 20 years of commercial insurance experience. His work includes property surveys for highly protected risks, heavy manufacturing, builder's risk, product liability, general contractors, educational institutions and auto service accounts. His current responsibilities as Senior Consultant for Liability include providing safety and risk management-related training to both policyholders and associates on topics including general liability, liquor liability, life safety, cyber protection, and products and completed operations.


Simon has a B.S. degree in Safety Sciences from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and holds the Certified Safety Professional certification. Simon has completed the Simplex Grinnell Sprinkler School and is an authorized OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour General Industry and Construction Trainer.


Thomas Townsend

Tom leads Nationwide's product strategy and program development for connected business technologies, including wearables, building sensors and other Internet of Things products.


Prior to joining the Commercial Innovation team at Nationwide, Tom managed a wide variety of other commercial projects. He led a print and forms transformation team, served as a commercial staff product manager and handled litigated commercial claims.


Tom has a bachelor's degree in business administration from The Ohio State University.


Patrick Wilshire

Patrick is a Loss Control Services Specialist and general liability subject matter expert, supporting Nationwide's Loss Control Services team in upstate New York. He has worked in the insurance industry as a risk management and loss control professional since 2008. During that time, he has supported both Nationwide's agribusiness risk management department and the commercial middle market insurance members.


Patrick graduated from Penn State with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biological Engineering. He holds Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Engineer in Training (EIT) and Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) certifications.


Clare Ryan Wydeven

Clare is responsible for business development and underwriting of Middle Market Construction and Inland Marine business. She leads a team of 45 Territory Managers and Underwriters covering a 23-state footprint. Clare's management focus includes professional development, relationship management, and practice growth. She plays an integral role in shaping team strategy and managing agency relationships with a deliberate focus on portfolio profitability.


Clare has over 20 years of Commercial Underwriting experience, having held both staff and field roles with Cigna P&C, ACE and Chubb. Clare joined the Nationwide organization in 2010 as an underwriting specialist before moving to a leadership role in 2012. Since that time, she has held positions of increasing responsibility within the Nationwide Commercial organization in both Small and Middle Market.


Clare graduated from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. In 2018, she completed a Strategic Leadership Program at Columbia Business School in New York.
