Gary Flaherty

Gary Flaherty
Vice President, Commercial Auto

With more than 24 years in the insurance industry, Gary Flaherty is a proven leader who brings extensive experience in managing geographically dispersed teams in Underwriting, Risk Management, and Claims in the Commercial Trucking space.

Gary joined Nationwide in January 2018. Previously, he was Assistant Vice President of Fleet Underwriting, Risk Management, and Claims at Canal Insurance in Greenville, S.C. While employed with Canal, he earned the Compass Award, the firm's highest honor, for leading and driving enterprise-wide strategies and analytics to improve customer retention. He has also led the Claims division for the Commercial Trucking sector at Progressive Insurance and served in claims leadership roles at Progressive branch offices.

Originally from Toms River, N.J., Gary holds a Master of Business Administration from Pennsylvania State University and a dual Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (Finance and Economics) from Kutztown University in Pennsylvania.

Beth Hannon

Senior Director, Pro Fleet

Beth Hannon joined Nationwide in July 2004, beginning her tenure in Scottsdale Insurance Company’s Technology division. From there, she was promoted to director of Technology and Operations at Western Heritage in May 2007.  She continued to embrace new roles, expanding her career at one of the nation’s largest insurance-based financial service companies. Beth currently leads the Nationwide E&S Commercial Auto Division’s ProFleet organization. This includes strategy and operations for the Fleet Underwriting teams, as well as the Risk Management and Loss Control operations.

Before joining Nationwide,  Beth had a tenured career at Aetna and Travelers as a Director of National Accounts and Middle Market Underwriting & Technology.  She began her career working in her family’s insurance agency in East Hartford, Conn. Her experience in Personal lines, P&C and Commercial Auto has brought her a wealth of knowledge and commitment to our customers, and she admires the talented associates and general agents with whom she works.  She is passionate about the importance of being open to change, taking on new roles and embracing discomfort to propel our learning.

Beth is an avid supporter of others in both her personal and professional life. For six years, she served as a senior board member for a large non-profit dedicated to assisting families in need.  She also served for five years as a board member for the California Insurance Wholesalers Association, helping improve the strategy, direction and educational programs for the organization.  She continually strives to give back through her various mentorships at young student and professional alliances.

Carole McIntyre
Senior Director, Portfolio+

A motivated and results-driven leader in the commercial auto insurance industry for over 30 years, Carole McIntyre brings experience in product development, systems development, actuarial science, analytics and underwriting to Nationwide’s Commercial Auto sector, blending these disciplines to enhance and develop our Portfolio+ product offerings.

She joined Nationwide in 2009 as Senior Director, initially working to expand the for-hire trucking portfolio to include long haul risks. Prior to Nationwide, Carole served in an actuarial capacity at Northland Insurance, performing both rate and reserving functions for Trucking, Public, Business Auto and Personal Lines, before being promoted to Vice President of Product Development, Commercial Auto.

Carole holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a concentration in Actuarial Science from the University of Minnesota. She holds a CPCU designation and recently earned a certificate in Disruptive Strategy from Harvard Business School, providing a grounding in market disruption theory to enable strategic planning for innovation and growth.
