Protect your employees from poor air quality and excessive noise with an industrial hygiene evaluation

Nationwide wants to help you maintain a workplace that manages air quality, noise and other potential risks to worker health. Safe working conditions protect your employees as well as the viability of your business.

Our risk management services team is staffed with industrial hygiene experts, certified by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene. These certified industrial hygienists have completed courses in industrial hygiene fundamentals, measurements, controls and toxicology. They have also successfully completed examinations on topics such as air sampling, biohazards, noise and vibration.

Making air safer and cleaner

Dust, carbon monoxide and ammonia are just a few of the substances that may be in the air your employees breathe every day. Our certified industrial hygienists can measure the levels of air contaminants at your workplace. If concerns arise, we can help you develop a respiratory protection program or offer other recommendations to help you minimize occupational exposures caused by breathing air that may contain harmful dusts, fumes, sprays or gases.

Protecting your hearing

By comparing noise-monitoring results to noise levels set by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, our certified industrial hygienists can help you comply with safety, health and environmental regulations. Beyond an initial evaluation, a noise analysis should also be done whenever there is a change in production, process, equipment or controls that would elevate noise levels.

We’ve developed an overall Hearing Conservation Sample Program that outlines ways to protect employee hearing, monitor employee exposure to noise over time and train employees about the impact of noise on hearing. We recognize that it is difficult to reduce noise in some workplaces, so we also offer guidance on hearing protective devices.
