Orange County – the “OC” of tourism and TV fame – is home to world-class entertainment, recreation, shopping, dining and lots of beautiful open space. It is quintessential Southern California. Nestled in its northernmost corner is the arts-conscious city of Brea.

Ever since issuing its first policy to television’s Lassie in 1982, the Brea-based Veterinary Pet Insurance (VPI) Company (now Nationwide pet insurance) has pursued its mission of making veterinary services affordable for all pet owners.

Nationwide pet insurance now represents about 70% of the pet insurance market for dogs, cats, birds and exotic pets across all 50 states. Continuing that legacy, Nationwide employs almost 500 people at our Brea office.

Community involvement

In the Brea community, Nationwide has partnerships with several local and national organizations where our associates and the Nationwide Foundation are contributors, including:

  • Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County
  • Orange County Chapter of the American Red Cross
  • Orange County United Way

In addition, our Brea associates contributed $257,000 through our annual United Way Campaign, raised 14,360 meals for Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County and gave 224 units of blood last year.
