What does RV insurance cover?

What RV insurance covers depends on the type of policy you select. RV insurance coverage options include liability, collision, comprehensive and more. At Nationwide, we provide a multitude of RV insurance coverages for motorhomes, 5th wheels and travel trailers so customers can get the coverage that’s right for their needs. Find out more about what our RV insurance covers below and start your RV insurance quote today.

Liability coverage for RVs

Most states require RV drivers to have liability coverage, also known as “property damage/bodily injury.” This type of insurance can help cover accident-related expenses, including vehicle damage and personal injury.

Collision coverage for RVs

Collision insurance covers damages to your RV in the event of an accident with another vehicle, regardless of fault. Collision coverage also covers RV or motorhome roll overs. If your vehicle is financed or leased, collision insurance may be required.

Comprehensive coverage for RVs

Comprehensive insurance covers non-collision damage to your RV. Damage or loss due to vandalism, theft, falling objects, fire, storms, weather events and accidents involving animals are examples of losses that may be covered under comprehensive insurance.

Underinsured or uninsured coverage for RVs

Uninsured motorist insurance may help protect you from drivers who do not have enough insurance to cover the cost of an accident. This coverage is often paired with underinsured motorist coverage, which helps protect you from motorists who do not have enough insurance to cover the cost of an accident. Each state has its own uninsured motorist laws and such coverage is subject to policy coverage provisions and limits.

Roadside Assistance for RVs

Nationwide’s optional emergency Roadside Assistance program can help RV and motorhome owners with flat tires, jump starts or towing. This program also covers any trip interruption expenses you incur when you are more than 50 miles away from home.

Medical payments coverage for RVs

Mandatory in some states, MedPay insurance can help pay medical costs for you and your passengers related to an accident, no matter which party is at fault.

Towing and labor coverage for RVs

Nationwide offers sign and drive towing and labor coverage that also includes coverage for trip interruption expenses such as lodging, transportation and meals.

RV awning replacement

Nationwide provides direct replacement and installation needed for awnings at the RV location.

Vacation liability for RVs

This type of coverage provides protection in the event of an accident that occurs on the premises while the RV is being used as a temporary residence. We will provide up to $10,000 in coverage the limits stated on the Declarations with any pleasure-use RV that has physical damage coverage, both comprehensive and collision.

RV safety glass replacement

This coverage will pay for windshield replacement needed for your RV or motorhome.

Replacement cost and scheduled personal effects

These coverages are provided as primary insurance for both pleasure and full-time RVers. This policy pays before any other policy to limit the need to file a homeowner insurance claim.

RV insurance discounts

You may be eligible for a reduced rate on the above policies. For example, if you have scooter insurance coverage or motorcycle insurance coverage with Nationwide, you might qualify for a multi-vehicle discount. Explore all the Nationwide RV insurance discounts for more ways you can save.
