What to do if your vehicle is stolen

Are you covered for business auto theft loss?

The comprehensive coverage in your business auto insurance policy typically covers you for a stolen vehicle loss. It may also cover repairs to your vehicle if it is recovered damaged, minus your deductible.

However, some personal or commercial property items that were in your vehicle – such as a removable GPS, tools or materials, laptop, etc. – may not qualify for coverage under your business auto policy. Instead, you may need to file a claim under your homeowners, renters or commercial property insurance policy. Talk to your agent to make sure you have adequate coverage for both personal and commercial property. To be reimbursed for both your stolen vehicle and any items inside, you may need to file additional claims and pay additional deductibles.
