Overview of the interview process
When it's time for your first interview, you will want to be prepared. Nationwide utilizes a competency-based interview structure in order to select the most qualified candidate. These types of interviews involve a series of behaviorally focused questions intended for the candidate to share situations from their work history and highlight key competencies identified for the position.
For any given job, competencies tell us what it takes to do that job well. A competency describes the knowledge, skills, behaviors and characteristics that are required for successful completion of the job. Competency-based interviews typically occur as one or a series (panel) of interviews. Review your school or work history and identify experiences that you may use to demonstrate your performance in a given competency. What did you contribute, and what was the outcome? Remember to share how you felt during the situation, what you learned and what you could have done differently.
