Committed to the agricultural community since 1926
Founded by farmers, for farmers. That’s how the Nationwide® story began when a group of Ohio farmers saw a problem: a lack of fair, affordable auto insurance options. Applying the grit and determination so common in agriculture, they came together to create the solution, and the Farm Bureau Mutual Automobile Insurance Company was born in 1926.
Our name eventually changed to Nationwide, and our network of trusted partners grew from coast to coast. But our core identity in agriculture has never changed, and we’re privileged to carry the legacy of those founding farmers in everything we do.
We’re a proud mutual company where our members’ and partners’ success matters, and everything we do grows from our deep roots, expertise and experience in agriculture. As a modern mutual, we offer the advantages of both public and private companies, which helps ensure that we can back up our promises of care and protection.
Just like the farmers who founded our company, the hardworking Nationwide Agribusiness team members — many of whom are farmers themselves — start each day focused on helping farmers protect what matters most from the ever-changing risks they face.
Our efforts include advocacy deeply rooted in our experience and understanding of the unique challenges and needs of the farm community. Our direct connection to agriculture as a modern mutual drives us to champion policies and initiatives that protect and promote the interests of farmers, rural communities and agricultural sustainability.
