Started by Nationwide in 2014, Grain Bin Safety Week aims to reduce the number of grain bin accidents and fatalities by fostering a culture of safety and preparedness within the agricultural community.

Our mission is zero lives lost.

Why grain bin safety matters

One life lost is too many. Over the past 15 years, the U.S. has experienced more than 500 grain entrapments, highlighting the urgent need for improved grain bin safety. Implementing proper safety measures can prevent suffocation, explosions, falls and injuries, creating safer work environments. By prioritizing grain bin safety, we can significantly reduce accidents and save more lives.

What is Grain Bin Safety Week?

Grain Bin Safety Week is an annual campaign held during the third full week of February to raise awareness about the dangers of working in and around grain bins.

The campaign underscores the importance of grain bin safety practices and the role of grain rescue equipment and training for first responders in preventing life-threatening grain bin entrapments.

This week serves as a crucial reminder that these safety practices should be followed every day, with the goal of maintaining a safe working environment throughout the entire year.
