The following courses are available to Nationwide customers and their drivers. These courses:

  • Can be taken on a computer or mobile device (phone, tablet). Use a computer or tablet for best experience.
  • Include approximately 10 quiz questions.
  • Display a certificate of completion (COC) if a driver scores 80% or higher. The COC can be saved by:
    • Printing if connected to a printer.
    • Saved electronically by printing-to-PDF or taking a screen print (best for mobile devices).

Light and medium vehicles

These courses are for drivers of cars, SUVs, pick-ups, vans, smaller passenger buses and smaller straight trucks.

Distracted and inattentive driving 15 Course covers best practices for reducing collisions from distractions and inattention while driving.
Gravel road safety 10 This course covers the unique challenges and hazards associated with driving on rural gravel roads. It emphasizes the importance of recognizing these hazards and adopting safe driving practices to mitigate risks.
Rear-end collision prevention 15 Course covers best practices for reducing rear-end collisions including proper following distances, scanning ahead, etc.
Telematics 10 This course covers the safety, operations and customer service benefits of vehicle telematics. This course is designed for business owners, managers and supervisors with vehicle and safety responsibilities.
Two-lane and rural road safety 15 Rural roads are twice as deadly as other roads. Course covers the unique hazards of driving on two-lane and rural roads including less safe road design, slow moving vehicles, passing, blind intersections and wildlife.
Winter driving 15 Course covers best practices for driving in winter weather conditions including snow and ice.

Heavy vehicles

These courses are for drivers of shuttles, medium trucks, buses, heavy trucks and tractor-trailers.

Driver truck inspections 20 Course covers daily driver vehicle inspection requirements for large trucks regulated by the DOT. Includes pre- and post-trip inspections.
Preventing common injuries to truck drivers 10 Topics include getting in and out of the cab, working with lift gates, using ramps, disengaging the fifth wheel, etc.

Getting started

  • Visit the Nationwide Risk Management & Client Solutions Courses website.
  • Review the course to ensure you are familiar with how the course works and is appropriate for your organization.
  • Assign to drivers:
    • Right click (control-click on Mac) on the blue course download button and select Copy Link or click on the blue button and copy the URL (link) from the registration page.
    • Email the link to drivers specifying a due date and asking that they return the COC.
  • Save all COC as proof the training was completed.
  • When signing in, the driver is required to provide their email address for the course to work. Nationwide will not contact the driver or use the email for anything other than course functions.
